Principal's Message

Hope School is a special school for students, who are twelve to twenty-two years of age, with developmental disabilities.
Over the past two years, Hope cheerleaders have participated in the Regional Cheerleading competitions, sponsored by Sharp International and have received trophies for their exhibition routine. Once again this year they will participate in an exhibition routine and floor exercise. The cheerleading team proudly represents Hope School.
Grants

Last year, Hope School's Vocational Program was successfully awarded a large Perkins vocational grant for a two year period. The grant enabled a new school vocational library to be established. Students operate the library, checking out books and curriculum materials to students and staff.

This year a salad bar will be set up in the school cafeteria and will be operated by students. Also an on-campus retail center training area will be developed for students, which will prepare them to work in retail vocational settings.

AUHSD received a grant from Special Olympics, a program for students with intellectual disabilities, who otherwise wouldn't benefit from interscholastic athletics. The grant will start a school based program in AUHSD schools. Hope School is excited to participate in this event. Our students will be busy this spring working-out and practicing for the games.
School Site Improvements

Hope School has appreciated receiving a new coat of paint this year and it made a positive difference in the appearance of the school. Also, the fields were reseeded and conditioned just in time for our students to benefit and prepare for Special Olympics.
Fine Arts

The Hope Pageant of the Masters is scheduled for April 4th and has quickly become the school's fine arts event-of-the-year. Hope students produce the artwork of the masters and illustrate their artwork through a drama presentation, which is similar to the "Pageant of the Masters", which is held in Laguna Beach each year. We welcome you to join us for this inspirational evening of student-centered art and drama.
